ETFE Coatings
ETFE, also known by the trade names Tefzel®, is a thermoplastic copolymer coating that delivers a chemical inertness comparable to PTFE and other fluoropolymers, while also providing excellent mechanical strength, stiffness, and abrasion resistance.
This added strength comes into play in processing applications where frequent physical impact or contact with abrasive materials would accelerate wear and degradation of traditional fluoropolymers. ETFE has a continuous-use temperature range from -150ºF to 300ºF (-100ºC to 150ºC), making it appropriate for use in a wide range of chemical processing applications.
Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, ETFE coating, a fluorine based plastic, was designed to have high corrosion resistance and strength over a wide temperature range. ETFE is a polymer and its source-based name is poly(ethene-co-tetrafluoro ethene). ETFE has a very high melting temperature, excellent chemical, electrical and high energy radiation resistance properties.
